Champion of Owls award winner, Pertti Saurola with Ural Owl
Pertti Saurola has been studying owls in Finland for 50 years, with a specialty in Ural Owls (which happen to be very aggressive with biologists like Pertti who are banding their young in the nest.) Pertti has banded around 3,000 Ural Owls and 3,000 Tawny Owls among many other species of owls and birds. He has spoken at conferences around the world, and served as the head of the Finnish Bird Ringing (banding) Center for 28 years and the president of the European Union for Bird Ringing for 14 years.

Cost is $40/person to attend the banquet and presentation ($35 for International Owl Center members). Cost is $50/person if registering February 29 or later for members or non-members. Limit 250. Pre-registration required for meal planning.
