When owls eat, they eat fur, feathers, bones, and all.
Once or twice a day, depending on the species, they throw up a pellet
consisting of the indigestible portion of their meal--the fur or feathers and
bones. By taking a pellet apart, you can figure out from the bones what the owl
had for supper.
Come and dissect a pellet on Saturday, March 3, 2012 anytime from
12:30 - 3:00 PM at the
elementary school, or between 12:30 -2:30 on Sunday, March 4. You will receive an information sheet, tools, and you
will be able to ask questions as you work.
The cost is $5/pellet in addition to an admission
button, and you can pay when you get there. Pre-registration is NOT required. (More than one person can dissect a single pellet.)
